I’m Amy. I’m a happy-go-lucky, free spirited, ginger headed 40 something with an unquenchable desire to explore and a deep love of nature. I have a varied background from having a degree in Biology/Biochemistry to being a massage therapist and now a Project Coordinator for a building company. My accent comes from Colorado and I have lived in New Zealand for since 2011 and proudly hold a NZ passport.
My partner, Tom, is an adventurous spirit as well. Tom’s accent comes from Taunton, England and he’s lived in NZ since 2003. He’s grown up on and around the ocean spending a lot of time in Antigua on his mum’s sailboat. He’s an avid surfer with a motorcycling bent. As a chef, he’s worked in restaurants around the world and has spent the last few years working as a chef on commercial fishing vessels. Currently, he’s working as a builder and has been for over a decade.

We met in Whangarei, New Zealand during those crazy COVID times.
I had stayed in New Zealand to ride out the worst of the pandemic, waiting to fill Kai’s sails again. Tom ended up on a fishing boat near Mauritius for 7 months. Well, fate played a hand one day in 2021 and the two of us met in the Whangarei marina carpark through a mutual friend. Two hours in the car together and less than a year later sparks flew and there is no going back!
Now it’s time to start sailing the world in the aftermath of a global pandemic.
This should be interesting!
