Save The Wild Places

Welcome to Save the Wild Places where our experience + their research means together we can Save the Wild Places!

Mālama i ke kai a e mālama ke kai iāʻoe is a Hawaiian saying meaning “care for the ocean and the ocean will care for you.”

Save the Wild Places is my mission, my passion and my purpose and the way I intend to deeply care for the ocean, our planet’s blue heart.

In seeking out a way to do my part in caring for the ocean, as a wandering soul and cruising yachtie who deeply loves the ocean and its inhabitants, I came across the idea of citizen science. I found a way to turn my pastime into my purpose!

Citizen science is a clever way for everyday people with a passion for underwater activities to partner with scientists in a unique way. We gather the data that expands their understanding of the ocean and together we collaborate to increase the general understanding of the current situation in the ocean environment. This increase in knowledge can effectively lead to better and more targeted conservation efforts.

And if I can do this, anyone can!

I envision creating an army of sea saving sailors. Ocean warriors!

I envision the cruising community, a mostly retired, energetic, global set of ocean lovers, combining forces with the scientific community to help ocean conservation efforts.
